Tiger Swallowtail & Zinnias
St. Louis County, Midwestern United States.
I love butterflies! They have been iconic messengers for me going back to childhood.
This guy came and visited our flower bed out front a while back. They love zinnias! I plant the dwarf version cause the normal ones are large and ungainly, but the butterflies really love them...all kinds! Zinnias are an annual in colder climates.

This is a beautiful photo - well done on composition and everything - I love butterflies too - they are just magical and we have planted our garden with all the plants they love and need too x

Coposition! I shot over thirty frames of this guy flying around, and lucked into this shot! I did crop it, though. Glad you like it. Thank you for adding it to your favorites file!

great capture in flight. I just love the way their legs hang when they are flying........not sure what else they would do with them...but they look really funny. :)
Ya know, when i first realized what a lot of butterflies do with their legs while flying i was really surprised. A few kinds tuck them in, but many do not! Thank you for the comment!
yep, I noticed this myself when I was taking some disastrous shots of butterflies in flight...:)
i love how you captured it flying...really great shot!!
Thank you! To be honest, it's a really lucky shot! I shot a whole stick (85?) at this guy while he tried to avoid me, but this is the only one that came out!
